Hello !

I need some help just to be sure about something.

I bought a Les Paul Custom 58 in a small shop in NYC back in 2013. It's serial number is as follows : CR81095 so if I understand correctly it's the 95th LPC 58 Reissue produced in 2010. The thing is that when I bought it, the Gibson Custom Switchplate Medallion (https://images.app.goo.gl/Xo589f8MZBu1eDSx7) was missing. Second, I saw a video of guy testing a 58 Reissue and he said they were not weight relived but this thing definitely is. So what's the catch? I don't thing it's possible that my guitar is a fake but I sure can not sleep as good now. Is it possible that the guy who owned it before did something to make it lighter and took away the medalion in the process? Any Ideas? Thanks in advance this is my first post

Also people on youtube videos say the neck is very thick but I think it is way thinner than on my LP Studio...

Welcome to GGF.

I'm pretty sure the necks on the R8 guitars are pretty fat, bigger than the R9's. I could be wrong but I'm sure someone else will chime in on this.

Why do you think it was weight relieved? Some of those good reissues were failrly light, in the 8 to 9 lb range. Are you sure yours is weight relieved? Do you know how much it weighs?

Edit: The CR might stand for chambered reissue.

CR in serial number is for chambered custom shop Les Paul's. Does your guitar have binding nibs by the frets? Post some pics.

As others pointed out CR is for "chambered reissue" so the weight relief is correct.

No medallion for these guitars until 2012.

So everything about your guitar is legit.

You can see other CR8s here:

Very in depth site!

After reading on it, I think your guitar is a 2011.

CR84xxx is '04
So CR89xxx would be '09
CR80xxx would be '10
and then CR81xxx would be '11.

Sounds like an awesome guitar!!!

Any idea how much it could be worth? I don't intend to sell it but I'd like to know. I can't find any LP custum 58 reissue with weight relief on sale site...

It's worth between $3500 and 4000.

But it can only 150k, or someother small size (I forget exactly, unless this had been changed)

Yeah best to host on IMGUR or something. Phpbb forums are not good for hosting images.
