Fuck it, trigger pulled. After the thread this morning I decided I’m living dangerously nabbed a Mazerati off Reverb. Always wanted a Z. I figure I’ll off my Vibrolux and maybe a pedal or two to fund some of this. Sweet

You have earned 10,000 bonus street cred points!

Never played a Z but, my g/f's brother-in-law has one. He likes it so much that he stopped playing his other amps so, he sold them.

Dude! Yes!!!!

The nice thing about z’s = owners take good care of them, imo. Both used ones I got were dead mint.

You will be happy.

Btw, don’t assume you can just start swapping different rectifiers into it. They will either sound worse or blow your fuse.

Hah thanks hommies, I am pumped. Wondering if I will luck out and it can get here before Sunday so I can use it to make some noise when I jam with the dudes. And yeah, Cole, updates incoming for sure.

And thanks for that tidbit Gene, I wasn't planning on experimenting too much.

eeeeeee.... hell yes! i transfer all my heartbrokenness over missing one to joy for you to rock that thing! i'm psyched to hear what y' think!

you have been warned-- those things ARE throttlingly loud for what they are.

meantime- also be prepared- that tone knob is awesome and does all KINDS of crap you wouldn't expect. never found too much use for it super low, but cranking it brighter definitely hot rods it to some hilarious and threatening places  most times i kept it within 10-2 o'clock on my ghia for everyday stuff... but go way outside the box. and for god's sake, turn that thing full out. also-- mess with v1. i'd say have a coupla tubes on hand, because it's basically everything. i used philips jan 5751s in both the pi and v1 and it made my ghia a micro hiwatt :D but it'll dirt up nice with a good tube, and definitely don't recommend high gain chinese tubes...

report back, stat!

Hah so long story short, as of this afternoon it is in my possession. Longer story is UPS tried to deliver it yesterday, signature required and of course it came at a time I was not home. I called them, got them to hold it at one of their facilities and picked it up after work today. Unfortunately I have some obligations so I haven’t even been home yet and won’t be until later tonight so I will be able to admire it and update with some pictures but won’t actually have a chance to turn it on until tomorrow. So I’m in this torturous purgatory where I have it but can’t actually play it for a while longer.

Hah I actually am off work tomorrow although I have a few other things going on so it's not exactly a day off but I am planning to hopefully score some time in the middle of the day to actually get to plug it in and have some fun.

Alright so this turned into the week from hell, tons of commitments, working late, just a mess. I finally got a chance to really plug the Mazerati in this morning and fuck around with it.

Cue honeymoon. You guys were right about everything, this amp fucking rules. I suck at describing this shit but It's got this nice chime on the cleans, just a really pretty base tone. In comparison to the Mark III cleans (which I have most recently been using) it feels more open, a little bit jangl-ier ( :idk: ), a little less stiff. It's fucking plenty loud for sure and the tone knob gives a lot of range. I'm such a dummy, I know I said it when I had the Orange but having minimal controls on the amp really also does me a big favor, so much less to muck around with. Running my board into it was a blast too, took all my pedals like a champ. Gene, you nailed it, I was ripping Sabbath riffs and then going back to cleaner folksy chord stuff and everything between. Damn, this thing is great. We will see how it holds up jamming with the dudes tomorrow but for now I am plenty stoked.

And pics:

Yeah Itchy, the Esquire really killed it through the Mazerati just an awesome combo.

And newholland, completely right it'd be awesome to run it through a 2x12 or 4x12 at some point. It's got a Vintage 30 in it. I'm not super experienced with all the Celestion offerings but so far it's working for me. :thu:
