Happy New Captor Day! Scored a used Captor for $125 from the RT forums. I have not done any clips yet unfortunately as I spent a lot of time just tuning it and getting used to WoS. So far impressions are good though. I have my Metroplex back! I mean it never left but I can play it direct into my DAW and it’s wonderful. Having a 7 month old makes it a little harder to crank these things on the regular so getting this was a godsend. I plan on running all my amps to see how they fair.

Also probably going to be buying some additional IRs too. While I like what I’ve seen of WoS so far it’s pretty... overwhelming maybe? It’s a lot of options and customizability even on arcade mode. There’s some Celestion irs and Ownhammer stuff I want to try also. But for now... I got my amps back! I’m so damn happy.

EDIT: Changed title for clarity. Also added a pic. I'm so damn geeked.

Yeah that's the way to go. I had the Captor for a while and loved it. I play my amps through my Palmer 90% of the time these days.

I'm gonna grab one of those too at some point and do a comparison with my Suhr RL. Happy NCD!

I did a quick clip. One stereo track panned hard on each side. Brownback cabs with SM57s. My piss poor attempt at some Van Halen. Charvel San dimas with RTM bridge. Metroplex. I’m still learning this thing but no channel EQ in the DAW.

Damn dude that sounded pretty good even on my crappy work headphones. Way way better than my first load box IR tests for sure. :thu: Somebody get me a doctor!

Thanks man! I’m slowly figuring things out here. I figured since I had a VH type setup why not go for it? I juiced some of the power amp sim too to add back in some EL34 warmth.

have you tried the internal speaker voicing??? I've been toying with the idea of getting some sort of loadbox/IR DI deal for live work as well as using my rig at home to dial in sounds etc.... BUT I also don't want to drop OX Or Waza money lol

It’s not a bad voicing at all. I’ll try to run a clip later of just that tone. It’s a bit darker but it’s not terrible. It’s definitely workable. If you need more flexibility maybe look at a used Torpedo Live. But I’ll run up a clip tonight.

Comparison clip. First part is with WoS with some cabs and mics. Second is the built in cab sim. This was t to make the built in thing sound like shit but really to show the flexibility of the WoS program. I could see using the XLR output as a secondary guitar track to fatten up existing sounds though. No EQs applies. Everything is flat.
