This morning, I slapped a Sputnik into my Canadian Gillette Tech and lathered up with Poraso Green.
Two pass BBS... no nicks, paper cuts or, redness.
11/10 !!! :thu:

Proraso green is one of my all time favorite scents in shaving. It’s where I started in December 2006 the day I quit Gillette foam.

Poraso Green ROCKS!!! It's the freaking best! :thu:

In the early 2000's, I was between jobs and CVS had raised the price of Barbasol... so instead, I bough a puck of Van der Hagen soap and a cheap brush.
I was using a Gillette Track II Sensor.
When I used up the Van der Hagen, I bought a puck of Burt's Bees Bay Rum soap and Bay Rum Balm... I stuck with that until they were discontinued.

In 2012, Gillette Track II blade prices were getting really stupid. So, I went to Amazon to look for alternatives.
I bought an Edwin Jagger Classic razor, EJ brush and a few packs of Murkur blades. By this time, the cheap CVS brush had lost about 40% of its bristles.
When the package arrived, I loaded a blade in the EJ, lathered up with Burt's Bees and with glee in my heart, I proceeded to hack my face to bits!
That's when I Googled, "how to shave with a safety razor", found B&B, learned about Poraso Green and read about doing things in a less self destructive way.
Poraso Green was the first thing I bought when Burt's Bees discontinued their Bay Rum soap.

Interesting shave. Great result. Great scents.

Started off dicey. Used a new personna x series in my brassbird. Felt rough, but ridiculously efficient though. Could’ve had a decent result after one pass.

Super smooth. Btw, this scent combo smells like smoking a pipe in Texas. Amazing.

10/10

SOTD - Recreation of Thursday
9/10 Points lost for rushing.
Last year, the giant tube of Poraso was delivered with a leak so, I decanted it into a camping tube.
Adagio is always amazing.

Ajax,

That's the razor my Dad's Dad used. I have a NOS one in the box. His disappeared some time before I started DE shaving though. I have a feeling it's somewhere in my Parents' house's attic. I was always bummed I never found it. At least I have my Mom's Dad's razor. (Gillette Knack)

That's really cool that you have your Mom's Dad's Knack! When I was 14 or 15, I told my Dad I wanted to shave with his old Gillette DE (can't remember what he had but, it looked like a Fat Boy or Slim). He was already shaving with an original, fixed head, Track II and he said, "You don't want to shave with that old thing... the Track II is much better".

I dropped my first Canadian Tech and the bolt, on the top plate, broke off.
I thought my ball handled Tech was made in America until I took a closer look at it this morning.
It's really remarkable, how well this cheap razor shaves!

It says, "1932" but, it's definitly not from 1932. I think it's a 1960's or very early 1970's Tech.

I haven’t shaved with them, yet, but the Spice splash, Terror soap and balm arrived.

Ajax,

Those triangular baseplate holes indicate it would be a 40’s tech. Imo. ( the baseplate at least. You might have a mutant hybrid made of different parts. That happens quite a bit with thrifters and antiquers who don’t know what they have. )

The 1932 might denote a Canadian patent date?????

Ok shave. I was on a noble otter roulette, but didn’t want to be with my wife all day smelling like an otter. Decided to go with nostalgia. cella. Shaved alright.

Felt rushed. Fatip is giving me a small cut on my chin.
Used unscented b&m aftershave.

Invictus

9/10

Trying to recreate my morning dew San Francisco shave.

Opuntia is awesome. I’m thinking of getting another Milton custom brush.

Overall awesome shave

Full Terror today, and the soap is a winner. B&M have that down pat. The balm was a new experience, and I really dig it.

I think you're right about this being a hybrid. Mr. Razor photos indicate that the hande is from 1974 but, the base plate is, like you said, from the 1940's. Maybe 1939 - 1945?
The 1974 handle is the second to last photo, down the bottom of this link...
http://www.mr-razor.com/Rasierer/Tech/Tech.htm

I do have a fat style, older Tech handle... currently attached to my Edwin Jagger classic head.
I think I'll swap handles.

Interesting shave. Very good!

This is the brand new Proraso super formula soap. It doesn't smell as strong as the old one. :( It shaves really nice, but my face feels oily now. I think they gave into the fatty post shave nuts. i don't think I like it as much as the last formula. I have both, so I will compare tomorrow.

The Hawk OC3 is absolute beast mode. There is nothing more efficient. The aggressiveness is manageable. It's quite a razor.

How do you like my Russian titanium handle? It took 4 months in the mail to show up. crazy. Now his ebay shop is innactive. Kind of bummed because I would buy another one.

I'm wearing acqua di parma colonia. It didn't make the pic though.

10/10 overall.

That handle!!!

I read that Russia is the only source, in the world, for titanium.
During the 50's and 60's, the US formed a fake, shell company in Asia, to buy titanium for the SR-71 Blackbird spy plane.

The SR71 is the most awesome plane ever. It's the reason I bought the Blackland Blackbird.

This duke cannon busweiser solid cologne is good shit. Very campfire esque.

Cool tdr brush with Milton high mtn white fan.

Finally got my 17th stormo splash from Canada. Smells amazing. Kind of burned a bit, but probably worth it. Smells so Italian. Like sharp sharp leather and coffee with electricity thrown in.

X series blade on shave 2 didn’t improve with the brass bird. Back to blue platinums.

The brush rocks. This soap rocks Great shave.

9.5/10 because of the burn.

Stein, is your blackbird baseplate a different color??

Sotd:

New Razorock bbs. Awesome. Smoother than the aluminum model. Larger blade gap. Kind of feels like a mamba 70. Nice.

Extro magnolia licorice. Awesome. Smells like my parents’ magnolia when it sheds its flowers during raking season. Kind of a late summer type fragrance. Reminds me of playing football or something.

Pulled out my dogwood brush for the color scheme. Good brush.

10/10

They are equally good, but I like the black oxide more than the brass. The complete brass razor is considerably heavier than the complete steel razor. It kind of wrecks the feel, IMO.

Open vs closed.

if you shave with it every day, you'll want the closed comb.

If you want the cooler looking one, get the open comb. I got the OC first, and I don't regret it. The metal and finish matter more than SB vs OC.

I rotate through my razor collection... I'll use one razor until the blade gets dull and then, I pick a new blade and razor combo. No razor gets used more than 3 to 5 days in a row.

Sounds like the OC is a bit more aggro than the SB?
I'm hoping to save money by only buying one top piece but, I can see myself buying both. :cop:

Black is sold out... I'm a gunna have to wait until they make a new batch.

Dude the weird thing for me on that razor is the OC feels smoother than the SB.

I only use it for multi day growth, otherwise I’m doing the Sabre or Vector. If you’re gonna use it every day I’d agree with Gene and go SB.

BTW, been sampling and trying/buying some creed shit.
1. Aventus Cologne (not edt) - smells nearly identical to Fine Platinum EDT. Dayum. at 1/10th the cost, the Fine is a good deal. They found a really good copy FO.

2. Viking - I actually ended up buying a 3.3oz bottle for $205, which is a steal. This is a good scent. Warm. manly. interesting.

3. Virgin Island water - smells nearly identical to Ariana & Evans St. Bart's. A&E found a good copy FO.

4. Royal Water - absolutely turns my stomach. Makes me want to hurl instantly. I put the sample in a zip loc and threw it away. I can still fucking smell it. Wretched. Smells like 90 year old woman. awful.

5. Silver Mountain Water. meh, it's okay. didn't know what to expect. can't really describe it. now that I think about it, I kind of hate it.

6. Tabarome. smells like a 75 year old real estate broker. not great.

7. Green Irish Tweed. Smells like a 100 year old man. gross. not as bad as royal water though.

8. Himalaya - can't tell if I dislike it or hate it. smells cheap though. gross.

9. OG Aventus - outstanding. excellent. better than the clones. nice power for a fruit forward chypre.

Viking and OG Aventus are top of the heap. everything else smells either gross, cheap, or just like something cheap that smells decent (VIW and Aventus Cologne).
