Great deal!! These amps are really cool and this one looks super clean. Did it come with the footswitch?

That is such a great sounding amp. I had wanted one for years. I finally decided to buy one a year or two ago, and wouldn't you know it, the amp started having problems shortly after acquiring it (up to that point it was excellent sounding). I was super bummed, but after looking at the internal wiring, I can see why it could be inherent for problems. Peavey needs a lesson from Rivera on how to use a PCB in an amp.

Despite my issues with the one I owned, it still is a killer sounding amp. The Crunch channel is thrash metal heaven! I hope you don't have the same experience as me, and you fully get to enjoy the great tones!

Cole

Gain for days! I had the head, my first tube amp. Should have just kept it and not gone down the rabbit hole.

I'd like to try the 40 watt 112 versions. The channels are laid out differently, at least the lower gain one is.

I have my eye on a 3120 which I believe is just a XXX with different cosmetics and EL34's. Only played a XXX once in a small music store right after they first came out. Just remember it taking me by surprise because I was not expecting to like it but something about it got my attention.

Yep the 3120 is the XXX just rebadged. Peavey caused a bit of confusion there when they did the XXX II as that amp was NOT the XXX but the JSX.

The 3120 does a have a minor tweak to the circuit. I can't remember where I read it, probably a fasebuk group, but it was from one of the Peavey guys.

Anyway, not really different enough to matter.

I also have the 40 watt EFX version. It's a cool little amp, but the 60 seems almost twice as powerful to me. The clean and crunch on the 40 share the same channel and volume, whereas the 60 has a completely independent clean, but it has no gain control. You can dial in a slightly dirty clean on the 40, but in crunch mode, the gain isn't as saturated as crunch on 60.

it's slightly open, or mostly closed, depending on how you look at it. There's space enough to allow air in to cool the tubes.
