Friedman mini clone PCB - JJ Jr. and variants

Hi guys,

I recently completed my own personal build of a Friedman mini JJ Jr. clone based on a PCB I developed a few months back.
I grabbed a 2nd hand Ceriatone 2202 as a donor amp for this, which worked out fine. I'm currently building another for a guy in Melbourne and will put his in a 20" Marshall head cab format with a smallbox (468mm wide) size chassis. Tight fit but will be fine.

Features wise, my PCB can do:
- A straight up replica of the JJ Jr. (or Runt 20, or the other EL84 Friedman minis, they are very similar). EL84 powered, cathode bias
- The same but 6V6 fixed bias. Switchable fixed/cathose bias.
- Add a second gain and master for the BE channel, so the amp becomes 3 channels; clean, BE1 & BE2. All relay switchable.
- Switchable plexi mode - assignable to either BE1 and/or BE2 channel. Relay switchable.
- Switchable BE channel boost - assignable, this is essentially the Friedman structure switch. Relay switchable.
- Switchable SAT mode (JBE) - assignable to either BE1 and/or BE2 channel. Also on a relay.

Some pics for the build and I've posted a clip comparing the tones to an actual JJ Jr. that I was lucky enough to get my hands on for 24 hours.

Amp looks really good man. Very clean build. Did you also clone the DI/load feature?

Hi, Thanks!

No I did not do the DI/Load feature. I believe it's the guts of Friedman's Mic No Mo product for the DI, and the load is a large 8ohm resistive load IIRC.

Excellent work man. Unsure how much a build like this costs but damn. I listened in my car stero and to me it sounded 99% spot on. Better than a Kemper would do, nice work.
