DIBS! :rawk:

That’s gonna be a killer amp when he’s done. What’s the plan? How many channels? I’m assuming he sourced the amp right?

yeah he had the amp. single channel with a couple mid switches and a loop. told him i want it as close to that PA head vid i posted a few days ago as possible, he said the trannies are different but something is going on with the carlsbros to give them that tone so it should be close. i had to have one after watching that vid

We gotta insult this Hermansson guy so that he comes over here to defend himself and eventually joins the family. Dudes mods all sound boner inducing.

I was gonna buy an old carlsbro head a few years back because I thought no one had heard of them lmao

I can't believe this is really happening! I'm so happy for you!

Carlsbro amps have a reputation for being cool so that's good platform to build from. That's a tube PA, looks like a 1960's amp. They used Partridge trannys in them. That's going to be a great amp. I'm jelly.

This thread is making me want to buy back my Hermansson PA. :bang:

That looks like a 60w model. We can see what took that amp out in it's old life, a resistor in the power supply went up in smoke. He'll be gutting it and putting in his own board\boards. Based on what I've seen in his other builds it will be a work of art under the hood when it arrives on your doorstep.

congrats dude! Hermansson's are probably the finest high gain amps I've ever heard. No exaggeration.

Sounds good..

But I’m naive as to why he uses old PA’s. Just a unique thing to do or what?

Yeah, but . . .

I'm a clean dude and this made me rethink Les Pauls as guitars for clean playing. What an amp. What a player.

Yes. That was mine. I’m happy I was able to have it for a while. I didn’t really need to sell it but I was trying to be practical. I’m considering calling the guy and letting him know I have cash in hand if he also wants to be “practical “. I have first dibs on it if he ever were to sell it and it’s only about 4 miles away.

Do you remember what mic(s) you used to record it and what cab/speaker? I had forgotten how good this amp sounded.

A single SM57 into GarageBand. Pretty sure that clip was a Celestion Century Vintage. It could have been a Peavey JSX speaker though, but I think it was the Celestion.
