After drooling over the single pickup Chibson that was posted here awhile ago and realizing it would be garbage, I decided my GAS would not abate without taking action.

Here are the specs of my Precsision Guitar Kits order:

Body Tone Wood: Honduran Mahogany 1 Pc
Chambering: Chambered
Carved Top Cap Wood: 4A Western Flame Maple
Pick-Up Arrangement: Single Humbucker
Control Cavity: Standard 59 CT Control Cavity with 2 Pots. No switch cavity.
Bridge Setup: Jr Wraparound
Body Binding: Cream ($93.00)
Neck Wood: Honduran Mahogany
Fret Board Wood: Pao Ferro ( Bolivian Rosewood )
Position Markers: Trapezoid

Fret Wire: Medium Jumbo - Jescar 45100
Neck Binding: Cream
Headstock Shape: Precision Guitar Kits
Neck Profile: '59 Medium

Trying to find a good finishing guy to do a Nitro Bourbon Burst finish like this one. Hard to find good guys that work with Nitro... Anybody got recommendations?? :

And here's the finished guitar:

That looks like quite a winner. Are they logoless headstocks?

I heard Nobody is pretty okay at burst finishes. I think I read that here on GGF somewhere.

Congrats on the build, Steve. A couple guys here have put together some nice ones.

it's a magical piece , yes it has kitty paws on it , it was a tribute to my old sister cats that passed a few years back . Yin & Yang :% I had Yang run around in milk paint for the prints and I did the inlay in Box Elder . Good luck with your build !

Beautiful ! I don't think PGK does the LP headstock anymore , like Mine though it's more narrow it has the top cut whereas Gibby cracked down on them since and stopped it .so Nobody could do a proper shape there easy peasy .

I had a Precision kit flying V that I put together a few years ago. I ended up selling it pretty quickly. The wood was killer, and the majority of the routing was solid...but just as a heads up, there were a couple of things that were not done...

1. no ground wire route from bridge post to control cavity. I had to drill this myself, and fucked it up and drilled through the top of the guitar...twice.
2. the sides of the pickup routes where the mounting screws go were not routed deeper than the rest of the pickup cavity, and they weren't deep enough for a standard pickup mounting screw to recess into the body. I had to drill holes on either side to accommodate the mounting screws.
3. I requested some custom routing that he said he could easily do...basically just 2 volume controls and the switch. He did not do this.

Otherwise, I hated the baseball bat neck, but that was just preference for me. It looked great and sounded great at the end of the day.

She's here:

Everything looks great except for the headstock. I decided to get it with a black plastic headstock overlay and while everything was packed perfectly and the box arrived intact, the plastic overlay is very scratched up. A few of the scratches I can feel if I run my fingernail across them. What's weird is that the plastic control cavity cover they sent me has an adhesive covering to avoid scratching but the headstock overlay did not? I'm hoping this can all be wet sanded out before clear coating. Kind of a bummer:

It's much more than one scratch - the whole face is scratched.

Looks like this can be wet sanded out though:

Just texted a picture of the headstock overlay to MR NOBODY, who is doing my paint/build, and he says, "Don't worry about it. I will take care of it and it will be fine."

YES!!! :rawk: :thu:
