1993 Gibson SG Standard with 490R in neck and Amber 'spirit of 59' in the bridge. I will be changing the pups so it has pickup covers- I have an SH5 on the way for the bridge position, so I'll probably flip the Amber pup at some point.

The previous owner moved the strap button onto the back of the top wing... as a result it now neck dives like a mother. So I will have this moved back, and let the slow burning frustrating of a pointless hole on the wing eat away at me for the next 5 years...

All the above aside, I am very happy with it. This is my second SG standard (the previous was a 2012 model), so it all feels right at home. I totally regretted selling my previous one.

EDIT: Apologies, I cannot recall which site you can directly link images from to this forum.

Looks great!!!!!! Do you want different pickups or just covers? Those are simple/cheap to add if you like the way the pickups sound.

Also, if it's neck diving with the strap button in the back of the top wing, moving it back will make it worse. The only way to solve it is to move it to the side of the wing a la Iommi.

Going to get standard covers, as this is my preferred set up for an SG. I have a LP on the way -incoming alert- which I am having black covers on.

I had the Iommi SG! I did not find the strap button there helped. My previous SG with strap button in the original position was fine unless you had the guitar strap high up. I have a long torso with shorter legs, so I tend to have the guitar lower, which seems to help. I can also always add weights to the strap if it is that bad. It is just ridiculous it was moved to where it was, but I am guessing the dude had the guitar practically under his neck lol.

Yeah, not all SGs neck dive. I have one here that doesn't neck dive at all even with the strap in the stock position.

My previous one did neck dive and moving the button to the side of the horn solved it completely.

Sweet guitar man, that thing looks nice. And I agree, I find I often prefer the look of humbuckers covered.
