I love fucking with digital gear. So I am a little more savvy in that arena than people posting in here who can barely handle more than one pedal between their guitar and amp :cop: :lash: We all have gear related things we tend to have zero patience for and DAWs is absolutely my Achilles heel.

This. I don’t even understand why this is a problem lol. Reaper automatically detected my audient first time I plugged it in. Went in and set up the outputs and inputs. Never had to set them up again...so who cares lol. I don’t want these options on the screen taking up space for other useful shit lol.

Other useful shit like the fourteen little hieroglyphic buttons in the top left corner of Reaper? Do you ever click those little fuckers?

When I first got Reaper, I was overwhelmed.

I watched a 10 minute video, and was making clips 5 seconds after the video.

It's not that hard. What operation took 5 clicks??

yeah I gave Reaper a fair shot, I actually even bought the license but it was not for me. I had trouble doing simple things like overdubbing, it kept creating different lanes, trimming a track and basic stuff like that. I am sure it's just a matter of getting used to it but I don't have to so...

To record in stereo:
Double click open area on left
Click stereo dropdown menu
Click left/right or something
Click red button to arm track
Click record
Six clicks.

To trim last few seconds from end of recording:
Infinity clicks.

Recording on a computer is sooooooooooo much easier and cheaper than analog.
Why, back in the olden days, back when I had to walk 50 miles, barefoot, in the snow, to my studio in the basement of a butcher shop, with 1/2" tape, 8 track Otari..... why you kids!!!! My clicking finger hurts!!! GET OFF MY LAWN!!!

Pretty soon they'll have voice command recording software...
"Alexis... make me sound like Morrisey!!!"

Actually had a customer ask me to do that. I replied, "You're in luck, I have a Morrisey button right hear on the console!"
He didn't like that but, he was my best customer and we had a laugh.

Or put cursor on end of recording, drag backwards.

+1 for Reaper.

All this shit is unintuitive if you’ve never done it before, but like said above, there’s a metric fuckton of Reaper videos out there.

Anything you want to learn how to do, there’s a video for it. The more you do, the more capable you are with it. After a straight week of recording you’ll never forget how to do it.

Shit, grab it and when you get shit set the way you like, PM me and I’ll tell you how to make that a template so that every time you open it it’ll start from there. Easy as fuck.

I'm not so sure metric fuckton of videos is a good thing. Videos mean it was such an epic effort to plow through something that those who make it feel obligated to pass along their experience.

Probably why I couldn't find one on how to cut from the end of a clip. It was too easy.

Let them struggle. If you do it for them, they'll never learn it.

Plus, I enjoy hearing them whine.

This is a real ethical dilemma. I have used Reaper now like ten times over the course of a year and not paid for it. Every time I hit the "still evaluating" button I feel a little bit worse about myself. A fucking loser thief. I am taking food out of the mouths of the programmers' kids. It's shitty people like me that make the world suck. :(

Also; there's going to need to be some clips at the end of this tunnel.
