Can't wait to hook 'em up!

Body should be here in a couple weeks.

Neck... get this! - I ordered it correctly from Musikraft with a strat rounded heel and they sent me a neck with a straight tele heel - won't work with a standard strat body without modding the neck pocket or neck and I am for sure not doing that - why should I, I ordered what would work with my chosen body. I didn't even notice until I had done all the work to install Gotoh vintage locking tuners. I had to return the neck and they are priority building me what I ordered. Hopefully it will be here shortly after the body gets here...

Yeah they should replace the neck on priority, no doubt. I see on your spec sheet that they charged an extra 30 bucks for the strat heel.

Perry's neck has a straight heel though. Not sure how he made it work, but it's a stock Strat body and a stock Tele neck :idk:

I also noticed you ordered 10mm tuner holes but you said you're using vintage style Gotoh locking tuners, which I'm pretty sure are 6mm. Are you planning to use conversion bushings?

I use the Les Paul version of these tuners in all my Les Pauls and the ones that came with 10mm (for Grovers or modern Klusons) all needed conversion bushings.

Only my Les Paul Classic, which has 6mm holes for vintage style Klusons were a direct fit for the vintage locking Gotohs.

Cool build. Are you going to carve out the lower cutaway like Joe's, to get a little more upper fret access?

I'm sure on Perry's they routed the neck pocket on that strat body to accommodate the flat bottom Tele heel. That pickguard is custom too. No way that guitar would intonate properly with a rounded strat neck pocket and a flat Tele heel.

Yeah, I bought a set of the 10mm conversion bushings for the neck. At the time I ordered it I wasn't sure what tuners I wanted. Unfortunately, I'd already installed the tuners on the neck when I realized the heel was wrong. That means Musikraft got to keep my conversion bushings and they now have a neck drilled for the Gotoh vintage locking tuners - they should have just let me keep it for another project and made me the new one. Maybe they can get them out, but I sure wouldn't have been able to. I had to buy a new set for the replacement neck they are sending me.

Yeah, for sure. I'll see how much I have to carve when I get it built.

$80 upgrade for quartersawn maple?! I just bought a quartersawn blank big enough for 2 necks for $6. Hahah

Sorry, to rub it in, but quartersawn maple isn’t that hard to find. I get maybe $15-20 up charge but $80 is kind of a rip off.

Guitar is unique, I’ll say that..

In larger scale production, options pricing are not only about the cost of material, but also a way to control demand.
If they only charge $15 for quartersawn maple, a lot of buyers who would normally not care either way may think "hey for $15, I might as well go with it" and all of a sudden they have to start sourcing a lot more quartersawn maple.
By charging a higher fee, they are filtering it down to only those who REALLY want/need it and the other buyers can go with the standard maple option that is more readily available.

I don't care, man. I put together one guitar a year or so and I get what I want and pay what I have to for it. I like Musikraft's necks best and they have the options I want.

How long did it take for you to get your Musikraft neck? I ordered one in May, and still haven’t received it.
