So I've been messing around with alt-tunings on my GR55 into the 5150 and GT rig. I had somehow talked myself into thinking I didn't like it; but after working with it a night or two; I came to the conclusion that I was wrong

With that in mind, I decided to pick up a Boss GP10. Which has upgraded (from the GR) alternate tuning and guitar/pickup modeling. The GR sounds great in the drop tunings we are using and the pickup is tech I already own and use in my gigging band. Downside was I needed a little smaller form factor than the GR for the metal band spot. The GP does the trick.

I've been good (in comparison to my usual gear flipping pace :bay: ) so I'm considering it a treat to myself; even if I never end up putting it to use outside of my jam cave

So, gear purchasing as a reward for not purchasing gear? I like it.

It's the logic I'm going with :D

For a moment I thought you were talking about the GP8, which is old school goodness

I haven't heard of the GP-10 yet...googling it now.

Ok I read the whole description and I still don't what it is.

Is it like a mini GT1000? Or a guitar synth?

It's my usual dumb shit :freak:

Its a guitar processor that has modeling and basic synth stuff but is more so focused on stringed instrument modeling and alternate tunings. I've had one before but offed it because it didn't do the trumpets. It's mainly a sensible for me Variax alternative.

Couple of clips where guitar is digitally tuned down via GR from A440 to F :crap:

No autoharp, Pablo

Out for delivery  With any luck; I should have time to setup my alt-tunings before metal practice on Thursday

Please give us a review. I keep looking at these as a cheap way to get the pickup and start into the Roland synth thing. Locally there are a bunch of GR whatever’s for little money, I have an SY300 and its great. I don’t really need more for my metal band but the alternate tunings seem useful. I really wish the GP10 had a straight midi out instead of midi to USB.

Will do. The clips above are from the GR55 alt tuning and I think it does pretty darn good in shifting my standard tuned guitar down 11 steps   The GRs are fairly cheap but yo ucan score a used GP pretty reasonably.

I'm setting up my presets now and should be in the "testing phase" this evening if time allows :nail:
